An employee was using a sanding cloth to smooth a long shaft in an engine lathe. As he got to the end of the shaft farthest away from the chuck end, his glove became caught between the sanding cloth and the shaft, wrapping his fingers on both hands within the shredding cut-resistant fibers of the gloves. He suffered one finger amputation, a broken left wrist, and right hand lacerations. |
